About Us
School Assemblies is a program created by Ivy Winston and the team at Bright Futures Growth and Development Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit serving students from pre-kindergarten to young adulthood.
Bright Futures supports young people in an under-served community with academic help, social enrichment, and the power of music and the arts.
About Ivy Winston
Ivy's life work has been to improve the lives of children and families in the San Francisco Bay Area. She credits much of her dedication, drive, and compassion to her roots in New Orleans.
The foundation for Bright Futures began in 1987 when she developed programs and taught severely emotionally disturbed children ages 6 to 13 and studied early childhood development at Merritt College.
She received specialized training under the direction of Dr. Robert Tyminski and developed ‘The OutReach Program’ for families to meet the educational and therapeutic needs/goals of individual children and groups. During her ten years at the Oaks Children Center Ivy had the vision to start Bright Futures which has worked with thousands of children and their families in Contra Costa County since 1994.
She has seen the results of providing a strong foundation for young people, in their formative years, through the arts.
